Spincasting reels can be seen as being more friendly to new anglers and children to use than other reels. Typically its as easy as pushing a button to use them, which is why they often get referred to as push button reels. This ease of use does come at a price though - they are considered the least sensitive reel and you have less control of the lure at the end of the line that with the others. This can be a problem when controlling troublesome fish however.
That said, it shouldnt put you off if you are a new angler - there are many skills to train yourself on and doing it all in one go is a lot to ask. You can pickup spincasters quite cheaply and they are highly recommended if you want to get your feet wet without making any commitment.
